SCOTT REITHER, OT/L, CHT

Scott comes to us from Kingston, NY with 32 years experience. After graduating from SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY in 1986, Scott began working at the Curtis National Hand Center at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD where he began focusing on a concentration in Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation. After 4 years at John Hopkins, Scott worked in both hospital-based and private-practice hand therapy in the state of NY, most recently for Kingston Hand Therapy. He obtained his national certification in Hand Therapy (CHT) in 2006. Although Scott has experience working with many different diagnoses, he enjoys working with amateur and professional athletes, musicians and UE trauma. According to Scott, over the years, he has found that “for best practice and successful outcomes, I believe that a multidisciplinary approach is the key”. His personal interests include golf, soccer, woodworking, travel, skiing, and Scott’s newest challenge is stand up paddle boarding on the Outer Banks. Scott and his wife Margi (who works for ECU and Vidant as a Doctor of Nurse Practice) have 2 grown children.


MIKE KACHMAN, OTR/L, CHT

Mike is a 1996 graduate of East Carolina University.  He became interested in specializing in Hand Therapy that same year while working for HealthSouth in Myrtle Beach, SC.  He returned to Greenville in 1998 and accepted a position at Carolina Occupational Therapy Hand & Upper Extremity Rehabilitation (COTHUE) and began training with Judy Morris, MAEd, OTR/L, CHT who was one of the 1st certified hand therapists in the US.  Mike left Greenville to assume the position of Clinic Coordinator/Hand Therapist at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington DC, a US World News Top 10 facility.  He later returned to NC and COTHUE in 2008.  Mike partnered with Ms. Morris as co-owner of the clinic for 5 years and later became majority owner in 2015.  He has 23 years of experience, 21 of them spent in Hand Therapy.  Mike enjoys working with musicians , fabricating custom orthoses, and wound care is a "sub-specialization" that he has special interest in.  He also has extensive experience working with athletes (with focus on sports bracing/orthotics) from the scholastic level to collegiate to professional level and has treated a number of NFL players.  Outside of COTHUE, his personal interests include playing music, building instruments, and is an "amateur luthier".  Mike and his wife Lynda (who teaches Health Occupations and works as a respiratory therapist) live in Farmville with their 3 daughters.
